In March 2012 I served as the discussant for Immanuel Wallerstein’s lecture at UC Santa Cruz. In his talk, he addressed the current large-scale financial crisis of the early 21st century in the context of world-systems analysis. In my portion of the event, I asked Wallerstein to compare the “world-wide revolution of 1968,” on which he has written extensively, with the Occupy movement. This gave rise to a lively conversation on ecology, education, protest. I will put up a link to the video for that event when it is ready. Meanwhile, a few photos.
